CD Projekt Red dropped a huge announcement today regarding a release date change to Cyberpunk 2077. While the game has seen a delay already to September 17th from its original April date, the game will now drop on November 19th of this year.
CD Projekt Red’s co-founder, Marcin Iwiński and Head of Studio, Adam Badowski, prepared a letter detailing the delay, as seen below:
While it is certainly a bummer to have to wait yet another two months, the game is the studio’s biggest undertaking and will require a ton of bug fixes and other various development chores in order to fine-tune every single detail to the expectations of its fans and that of the studio itself. This shift also places the game around the release window of the next-gen consoles, and while a next-gen version was teased by the studio, it sounded like something that wasn’t going to be ready for this year. That said, Microsoft previously stated than any new version would be a free update to existing owners of the game, ensuring that Xbox One S/X uses would be able to transition to the Series X at no extra cost.
More information regarding the game and what we can expect from its world and characters will be detailed further on June 25th via its Night City Wire presentation.
