Sony has had an odd track record of late with announcing, or at the very least, showing off its upcoming successor to the PlayStation VR platform. PSVR2, as it is being called, is the next-gen version of its VR headset that is being built from the ground up to take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 console.
During the Press Conference, Sony provided a significant amount of details about the hardware, but failed to announce a release date, price, or even show off the headset. As of now, we have only seen the new controllers, and we finally have a name: Sense Controllers. They will offer haptic feedback, which is a feature of the DualSense Controller. The headset is also only going to need one cable going into the PS5, casting doubt on any sort of wireless features.
The PSVR headset will feature a OLED display with a 2000x2040 per eye resolution, making it a vastly better image than that of the original PSVR headset. The headset will also feature four cameras on the headset, better field of view, and eye-tracking as well, making for greater detail in your movement and what you’re looking at.
While a few games have been hinted at or announced for the platform, a teaser for Horizon: Call of the Mountain was shown off, showing a new story set within the world of their Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West series.
Are you excited for VR for the PlayStation 5? Any ideas on price? Will it be more expensive than the console itself? Only time will tell.
