BioWare shared a new blog post today highlighting both PC and Console specs ahead of the game's launch on October 31st. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is designed with a lot of flexibility in mind. From accessibility settings for Rook, to your very companions, there is a great deal of customization built into the game.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard has various settings for Ray Tracing, allowing those with high-end rigs to really explore the best this game can look and perform. PC players will be able to take advantage of such features, as well as uncapped frame rates. While those with a high-end rig will certainly benefit from a host of PC options, those with more modest hardware will still be able to enjoy the game, especially as the game is also Steam Deck Verified.
For console players on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, there will be a fidelity and performance mode, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will also be enhanced for PlayStation 5 Pro.
For further information, here is a quote from the game's technical director, Maciej Kurowski:
“We are excited to see how Dragon Age: The Veilguard will lean into the power that PS5 Pro unlocks for players. Whether you love deep progression, strategic combat, or diving into the lore of Dragon Age, you will immediately notice the improved experience with PS5 Pro. The game’s Fidelity and Performance modes will both see improvements on the hardware, including improved resolution in 30FPS Fidelity and 60FPS Performance modes. Additionally, there will be various improved visual settings across 30FPS Fidelity and 60FPS Performance mode.
The team at BioWare is proud of how immersed players will be when they enter the beautiful world of Thedas, with upgraded image quality thanks to Sony’s new AI-based upscaler, PSSR. We’ve enabled Raytraced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO) in the 60FPS Performance mode, which previously was only available on the base PlayStation 5 with 30FPS Fidelity mode.”
Dragon Age: The Veilguard won't include any DRM on any platform. The lack of such applications like Denuvo, does mean that PC players will be unable to pre load the game. Xbox Series X/S players will be able to preload the game as of yesterday, October 14th 9AM PT, whereas PlayStation users will need to wait until October 29th at 9AM PT.
